Googles Android Mobile Platform aims to create Millions of G-Phones

Apple iphones are big business on Ebay at the moment but Google, long muted to be developing a G-Phone (Internet Nickname), have now stepped into the frame by confirming that no such phone exists but that they have developed the Android Mobile Platform that is aimed at making Millions of enabled handsets into the G-Phone.

What is Android? Taken from Google’s own pages the Android Mobile Platform is:

The Android platform is a software stack for mobile devices including an operating system, middleware and key applications. Developers can create applications for the platform using the Android SDK. Applications are written using the Java programming language and run on Dalvik, a custom virtual machine designed for embedded use which runs on top of a Linux kernel.

Basically it is an open source application that will allow developers to develop applications across multiple platforms that would quite easily rival those that ship standard with the i-phone, take a look at the video on the above link and see the applications running in real time.

Why post this on an Ebay Blog? Well pretty soon any modern phone will be provided with the functionality to perform like the i-phone (even though its just a pretty graphical interface attached to a poor phone) and unless Apple do something major the likelihood is that these Android enabled phones will outstrip the i-phone in many ways and will nullify the current (and probably future) sales performance on Ebay…

Food for thought or innate ramblings, you decide and let me know but I know where my money is going..

Ebayer’s Success Stories - Life after leaving Ebay

Due to the recent fee hikes and various other bureaucracy changes there is a lot of muted anger towards the Ebay empire and sellers are looking to other outlets to ply their trade. Many people advise against this but I totally disagree, I always recommend that as soon as you commit to “real” earning on Ebay that you also commit to a web presence of you own to develop your own retail options so that there is always life after Ebay.

I have also always been quite quick to dismiss the other options that there are out there, however recently I have been researching a few and am showing some very good results….details to follow in another post. A recent article I found that details 5 sellers that have made the successful move away from Ebay is quite a good read and should hopefully provide you all with a little more inspiration to realise that there reallyis life after Ebay.

I will never totally dismiss Ebay as it really is a great marketing opportunity, however again I will never advise to totally commit to using Ebay solely as a sales venue. The old phrase “don’t put all your eggs in one basket” really runs true…

Anyway, take a read of the article and see whether it inspires you…… Check out 5 sellers that made the jump from Ebay
